Lift

hhhheeeeeyyyyy guyyysssss!

What's good?

Did everyone love conference? I want to hear about everyone's fav talk or if anything changed their life from it. :) My favorite talk was by Elder Rasband, but I also loved Elder Choi's. Reminding us all to "look up" towards God during times of trial.

I've been wanting to write this blog post for awhile now, but last year while studying one day, I randomly remembered an experience I had with my oldest brother Spencer.

I was visiting Utah and Spencer was the youth Sunday school teacher of his ward so I went to his class. I can't remember exactly what he taught that day but I remember having to do a practical with a little group of youth in the class, I had to testify about Christ at the end or something like that. In front of the class, he let me know how awesome my testimony was and then later in front of our family he expressed how good of a missionary I would be some day. I felt so proud to have impressed him like that yet so inadequate to ever actually be a missionary. But that compliment meant so much to me coming from him. It made me see a glimpse of my full potential.

It is amazing the power that each of us has to lift one another, to help one another see their potential. He helped sow an early seed in my life. I want to be like him-someone who is powerful enough to lift those with feeble knees. That is the greatest leader. Someone who uses their strengths to help others find their own.

Here is a quote from President Hinckley that has always meant so much to me, "Do you want to be happy? Forget yourself and get lost in this great cause. Lend your efforts to helping people. Cultivate a spirit of forgiveness in your heart against any who might have offended you. Look to the Lord and live and work to lift and serve His sons and daughters. You will come to know a happiness that you have never known before if you will do that. I do not care how old you are, how young you are, whatever. You can lift people and help them. Heaven knows there are so very, very, very many people in this world who need help. Oh, so very, very many. Let’s get the cankering, selfish attitude out of our lives, my brothers and sisters, and stand a little taller and reach a little higher in the service of others. … Stand taller, stand higher, lift those with feeble knees, hold up the arms of those that hang down. Live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Forget yourself."

I have a testimony of this, and I know that loving and lifting others really is the key to happiness.

Love you all!
