All or Nothing
God dag god dag
Vet dåkkår ka?
I just had the coolest week ever.
We flew to Oslo for a big mission conference and had a guest speaker named Elder Tom-Atle Herland who is an area 70. He is a native Norwegian and ahhh it was so so so good for our mission to learn from him, especially because he happened to also serve his mission here.
During this conference he spoke about a ton of amazing things
but one that specifically stood out to me was the importance of being completely "in" with the things you do in life.
He focused on the importance of being completely devoted to the work as we are out here, specifically to the mission rules and standards.
He shared a story about an old companion and friend who one day was in the shower rocking out to the Rolling Stones.
He knocked on the door and asked what he was listening to, the companion said,
"the Rolling Stones!"
and he said,
"All or nothing Elder."
His companion turned off the music and sent it all home that day, and they went on with there lives and are to this day really good friends.
He mentioned how the experiences he had on his mission have effected him throughout his life. He learned the important principle of obedience while on his mission, which has stuck with him.
I invited our ward here in Stavanger to apply that principle to their lives. To find what it is in their lives that is preventing them from being "all in."
I want to do the same to you.
You know what you need to do to be all in.
Start today.
Everyone is changing, everyone is in motion.
And thank goodness for that.
I am grateful for the Atonement and for change.
I thought this video was pretty powerful.
